Strategic Options Workgroup
Members of the Marion County Hospital District Trustees and Munroe Regional Health System's executive team will be traveling to visit hospitals operated by Community Health Systems (CHS), as well as CHS's headquarters, from Tuesday, September 17th until Thursday, September 19th.

On June 5th, 2013, after careful review and due diligence, the chairman of the Marion County Hospital District Board of Trustees signed a Letter of Intent with Health Management Associates (HMA) to move forward with a formal relationship with HMA and UF Health (the new name representing the University of Florida Medical School and Shands Medical Center). The signed Letter of Intent marks the beginning of a more in-depth review called “due diligence.”

On April 17, 2013, Duke/LifePoint sent this letter with a Letter of Intent to the Marion County Hospital District Trustees.

Meetings were held for the Strategic Options Workgroup on Tuesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 3, 2012. The three finalists presented separately on these days beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the MRMC Auxiliary Conference Center. On October 17, 2011, the Marion County Hospital District Trustees announced the formation of a Strategic Options Workgroup. The workgroup is comprised of members of the Marion County Hospital District Trustees, members of the Munroe Regional Health System Board of Directors and medical staff representatives.
This workgroup is responsible to oversee the process to identify possible Strategic Partners for MRMC, act as initiators and responders in the development of all components of the process, confirm objectives, review and select business structure, approve contents of RFP, approve contents of the Information Memorandum, review and select potential Strategic Partners, review responses obtained from potential Strategic Partners and make recommendations to the MCHD Trustees.
The District engaged Ponder & Co. as its financial advisor and to solicit and evaluate joint venture, long-term lease of assets, asset sale, and merger proposals.

Call for Proposals
Interested persons were encouraged to submit a written proposal in accordance with the Instruction Letter before February 10, 2012. Proposals from qualified persons were considered. Interested persons were encouraged to review the Ponder & Co. Instruction Letter and Information Memorandum. All requests for supplementary information should be made via e-mail and addressed to Duane Waugh with copies to Eb LeMaster and David Atchison.
