Munroe Regional Medical Center's Board and Governance
Marion County Hospital District was established by the Florida Legislature in 1965 (Chapter 65-1905). The Hospital District has authority to establish, construct, lease, operate and maintain any hospital or clinic as in its opinion shall be necessary for the preservation of public health, for the public good and for the use of the public.
Board meetings are open to the public. Munroe publishes a schedule of the Medical Center's general/regular board (Marion County Hospital District, Munroe Regional Health Systems and the Munroe Foundation) meetings annually in the local daily newspaper, placed in a portion where legal notices and classified advertisements appear.
- The general/regular meetings schedule (and any subsequent changes to) is also posted in the Medical Center's Palmer and Johnson lobbies.
- Media/Press representatives also receive annually an e-mail version of the general/regular meetings schedule and are notified within a reasonable time of subsequent changes to the schedule.
- Munroe archives the Marion County Hospital District and Munroe Regional Health System's board meeting minutes on the Munroe Regional Medical Center's website.
- The Calendar and Special Notices pertaining to changes to meetings and other information are posted on the website
Reasonable efforts are made to give at least three (3) business days notice of special meetings.
- The Medical Center publishes special meeting notifications in the local daily newspaper, placed in a portion where legal notices and classified advertisements appear.
- The Public Information Officer posts a notice of the special meeting in the Medical Center's Palmer and Johnson lobbies.
- The Public Information Officer also notifies the media representatives by e-mail of special meetings.
- If adequate time is unavailable for publishing special meeting notifications in the local daily newspaper, special meetings notifications are posted in the following three locations: (1) the Marion County courthouse, (2) the Marion County Board of County Commissioners bulletin board, and (3) the City Hall bulletin board.
- The Calendar and Special Notices pertaining to changes to meetings and other information are posted on the website
Note: If a meeting is adjourned and reconvened later to complete the business from the agenda of the adjourned meeting; the second meeting will also be noticed. If the meeting is rescheduled, the rescheduled meeting will also be noticed. With regards to cancellation of meetings and room changes, notification will be posted within a reasonable time on the door of the room where the meeting was originally scheduled and the website will also reflect these changes.
