Organizational Development

Supporting the educational needs of 2,500 Munroe associates is no small task. Organizational Development is an approved training center for the American Heart Association and offered 84 classes in both basic and advanced life support techniques within the last 12 months, training 965 people. In addition, Organizational Development is an approved provider for contact hour classes with the Board of Nursing, Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling, Board of Respiratory Care, Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel, and for selected Board of Radiology classes.

Continuing Education (CE) contact hour programs are available free of charge for all Munroe associates. As a contact hour provider, Munroe is obligated to report attendance to a CE broker, which is why we must have accurate license numbers in Net Learning and on attendance rosters. Please be sure to come to class with your license number and log into Net Learning to confirm your license number is correct. Managers and department educators now have the ability to document department specific education and courses taken outside of the hospital, on to the Net Learning transcript via Net Manager.

Organizational Development creates and conducts classes  to meet the educational needs of Munroe associates using different teaching methodologies. Within the last 12 months, this department has offered or coordinated: 472 live classes with 4.781 participants, 34 in-services with 3,577 participants, 51 self-study modules with 2,248 participants, and 78 computer-based learning programs with 64,254 completions.

The department also has a perinatal educator who provides classes, instructors, and maintains the budget for the perinatal education offered through Munroe's Women's Center. In 2004, 1,269 couples attended perinatal classes, and we expect 1,089 for 2005. New moms delivering at Munroe are offered quality breastfeeding education and support on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

The Organizational Department administers the Net Learning software program that houses Munroe's computer-based learning and records attendance/completion of classes and courses, as well as the computer-based essentials of critical care orientation, and the Internet education Health Net. This department also coordinates and conducts general orientation for all associates (approximately 500 associates from August 2004 - August 2005) and patient care orientation for clinical associates.

Finally, Organizational Development administers the tuition reimbursement  program for full and part-time associates. For the last fiscal year, 771 associates received $280,702 in tuition reimbursement.

Please call Organizational Development at 351-7394 with your educational questions or come visit us at the Magnolia Center. Office hours are 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.
