Nursing
To the Nurses of Munroe-
"It is something to be able to paint a picture, or to carve a
statue, and to make a few objects beautiful. But it is far more glorious to
carve and paint the atmosphere in which we work, to effect the quality of the
day - this is the highest of the arts."
Henry David Thoreau
Nursing has long been defined as both an art and a science. The
primary emphasis, however, has been on the scientific aspects of nursing with
little consideration given to its state as an art. According to Florence
Nightingale, it is, "the finest of the fine arts." Nursing is not merely a
technique but a process that incorporates the elements of soul, mind and
imagination. Its very essence lies in the creative imagination, the sensitive
spirit, and the intelligent understanding that provide the very foundation for
effective nursing care.
For more than 100 years, the nursing staff at Munroe have made a
difference. Munroe nursing emphasizes high-quality patient care, clinical
responsibility, participatory decision making, strong nurse leaders, community
involvement, professional development opportunities, and nurse satisfaction. Our
mission to "provide the best care, to every patient, every day" and to be
nationally recognized for quality nursing begins with you.
This section of Munroe's website will give you the knowledge base
for our philosophy and framework in which we practice nursing. Through evidence
based practice and nursing research our patients will benefit from your
contributions to excellence in patient care.
New information will continue to be added to this section, so
check back often!
