Critical Care
Critical Care nursing at Munroe covers a wide range of specialties, including
positions at the Heart and Vascular Center, nationally renowned for superior
cardiac diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation. Critical Care areas
include:
- Surgical ICU
- Cardiac ICU
- Coronary Care ICU (MICU)
- Cardiovascular Recovery/ICU
- Cardiovascular PCU
- Cardiology
- Intermediate Care
- Neuro Intermediate Care
Critical Care specialization courses are available in the Surgical ICU,
Cardiovascular Recovery/ICU and Coronary Care units. BLS and ACLS are also
provided.
Emergency Services
Emergency Department nurses work 12-hours shifts in this fast-paced
setting, where services include trauma care, acute medical care, pediatrics,
orthopaedics and triage. Palmer-Klein Children's Express and Fast ER (for adults
with non-life-threatening conditions) are divisions of the department.
The Emergency Center at TimberRidge is our new, 60,000 square foot emergency center
at the TimberRidge Medical Park, southwest of the main Munroe campus. Providing
full service emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the center
has eight exam rooms and four observation rooms. The Center is supported by a
dedicated, full-service Imaging Center and lab.
Women's Center
Committed to providing maximum comfort for mother and baby, our Women's
Center utilizes the latest technologies and procedures. Specialized areas
include:
- Women's Surgery
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum
- Pediatrics
- Newborn Nursery
Staff members include an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant,
Childbirth Educators and Nurse Midwives.
Home Health Services
JCAHO accredited, state licensed and Medicare certified, Home Health Services
provides post-hospitalization care to patients in their own homes. Home Health
nurses work with other team members (Home Health Aides, Therapists and Medical
Social Service Workers) to assist patient in recovery from surgery, accidents or
injuries; disease management; and physical or occupational speech
rehabilitation.
Medical/Surgical
Medical/Surgical nurses participate in a broad range of cases, gaining
valuable experience in inpatient nursing units that include:
- Medical Oncology
- Medical Telemetry
- Surgical
- Orthopaedics
- Neurology/Neurosurgery
- Admissions Plus
- Endoscopy
Perioperative Services
Munroe's Perioperative Services unit peforms a full spectrum of surgeries,
including open heart. The unit consists of:
- Operating Room
- Post Anesthesia Care
- Pre-Operative Care
- Surgical Admission
- Outpatient Surgery
- Pre-Admit Testing
- Sterile Processing
Our state-of-the-art facilities include new Cardiovascular operating rooms
with leading-edge integrated video technology. Munroe's advanced and supportive

Professional Environment
Scheduling options include a 3-to-4-day work week, alternating weekends and
an in-house PRN pool. Each nurse on our staff provides primary nursing and total
patient care. Our modular care delivery system creates a nurse-to-patient ratio
conducive to truly personalized care. A 4-week orientation for experienced RNs
and a 6-10 week orientation for recent graduates familiarize staff members with
