Professional Growth & Development
Munroe's Clinical Ladders promotional process based on Pat
Benner's Notice to Expert theory, exemplifies the environment of professional growth
and development at Munroe Regional Medical Center. The Clinical Ladders matrix
outlines the experience, education, critical thinking skills and didactic
expectations of nurses seeking promotion within Patient Care Services. A team of
nurses from various clinical areas, People Services, Organizational Development,
and Perioperative Services recently collaborated in revisions of these criteria
to allow for BNS, MSN and specialty certification to be considered in meeting
some aspects of the criteria. This affords all nurses at Munroe opportunities
for growth and development and provides a framework for consistent promotions
across specialty services.
