Speeding the Recovery Process

Cardiac Rehabilitation at Munroe Heart is a medically supervised program that is focused on helping patients with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease. Our goal is to help patients get well sooner and return to full, active, and productive lives. Once you have learned the habits of living a heart healthy life, it's important to maintain that behavior throughout your life.

Cardiac rehabilitation, provided by our LifeTime Wellness Program, involves a customized program of exercise, education, and counseling. Don't worry if you have never exercised before. Our cardiac rehab team will make sure the program moves at a comfortable pace that is safe for you. You will be taught proper exercise techniques such as warming up and stretching before you begin exercising. You will also be educated on important ways to stay healthy.

Exercise

Cardiac rehab involves regular aerobic exercise. In general you should be exercising three to five times a week. The exercises involve the use of machines that are very effective at increasing heart rate and the muscles' oxygen utilization.

The cardiac rehab exercise specialists will design an individualized program for you and teach you how to use the equipment. Depending on your level of recovery and exercise tolerance, you will also be given a strength-training program, which will increase your muscular fitness. Our exercise equipment consists of:

  • Treadmills
  • Airdyne stationary cycles
  • Stratus recumbent cycles
  • Upper body ergometer
  • Rowing machine
  • EFX elliptical
