Chief Executive Officer Rich Mutarelli has announced the appointment of Phil A. Wright II as the new Chief Operating Officer for Munroe Regional Medical Center. Wright joins the hospital from Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Va. where he has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2010.
“Phil brings great experience and strong credentials to this role,” said Mutarelli. “We are very pleased to have identified such a seasoned professional to fill this important position.”
During his tenure at Southampton, Wright led the hospital’s work to provide patients with quality, personalized care which ultimately earned the hospital the highest patient satisfaction in Hampton Roads for two years. The hospital recruited physicians, built a new medical office building and outpatient rehab center, and added new service lines to meet the community’s needs.
“I am excited to become a part of the outstanding organization at Munroe Regional,” said Wright. “The hospital is noted for strong quality of care and I look forward to supporting the members of the medical staff and employees in their work. Having grown up in Gainesville, I am excited to be moving closer to my family through this professional opportunity.”
