On Friday, November 12, 2010, Munroe Regional Medical Center will conduct an emergency preparedness disaster drill. This drill is part of the medical center's requirements per The Joint Commission and the office of the Assistant Secretary of Preapredness & Response (OASPR) Grant entered into by the Department of Health and Munroe Regional Medical Center.
The scenario for the drill is an Active Shooter who takes hostages and douses gasoline on victims. Munroe Regional will be partnering with the following agencies during the drill:
- Ocala Police Department
- Marion County Sheriff's Department
- Ocala Fire Department
- Marion County Fire Rescue
- College of Central Florida EMS students
- 20 Volunteers from West Port High School and Forest High School
- Marion County Emergency Management
- Public Health Department
- Public Safety Communications Manager
- Burgess & Associates HotZone
Signage will be posted throughout the medical center campus to inform hospital staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and guests of the drill and ease any concerns of a real life scenario.
Media is invited to attend this hospital exercise. There will be opportunities for photos and videos, as well as interviews with members of Munroe Regional's emergency preparedness team
