Beckers Hospital Review
A Florida hospital is finding itself estranged from a local family care physician group after the practice announced its physicians would no longer treat or admit patients in the hospital, according to a Star-Banner report.
Family Care Specialists in Ocala, Fla., had previously announced that all but two of its physicians would cease treating patients in Munroe Regional Medical Center, also in Ocala. Effective July 1, those two remaining physicians will also relinquish their privileges at Munroe. They will now see patients exclusively at Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital.
"This means that if you seek hospital care at Munroe Regional, our physicians will not have access to treat you at any time while you are there," Sidney Clevinger, MD, FCS medical director, said in the notification letter to patients.
The physician practice, ORMC and West Marion are all operated by Ocala Health System — an arm of Hospital Corporation of America. A Munroe spokesperson said the decision to relinquish physician privileges at Munroe was one made by HCA.
