Ocala, FL -
Three area businesses have been recognized by the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Companies Program for promoting physical activity and health in the workplace.
Fit-Friendly Companies Program participants implement various options to encourage physical activity, nutrition and culture enhancements such as on-site walking routes, healthy food options in cafeterias and vending machines, annual employee health risk assessments and online tracking tools.
The Marion County Fit-Friendly Companies are The City of Ocala, Marion County Public Schools and Munroe Regional Medical Center.
The City of Ocala is receiving the Gold Fit-Friendly Company Award. The Marion County School Board is receiving the Platinum Fit-Friendly Company Award and the Worksite Innovation Award. Finally, Munroe Regional Medical Center is receiving the Gold Fit-Friendly Company Award and the Community Innovation Award. Out of 183 applicants, Munroe Regional is one of four to win the Community Innovation Award.
