Top 100 Hospital
As a member of the Board of Trustees of Ocala Health System, I could not be more proud of the latest accomplishment achieved by this organization. On April 15, Thomson Reuters announced its list of 100 Top Hospitals in the nation for 2012. Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital made the list.
It is significant to point out that Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital were among nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals evaluated. Overall performance was the basis for the study, which included patient care, operational efficiency, financial stability and patient satisfaction.
Ocala Health System did not apply for this award, nor are they paying to promote this honor.
According to Thomson Reuters, if all hospitals performed at the same level as the 2012 100 Top Hospital award winners:
More than 186,000 additional lives could be saved.
Approximately 56,000 additional patients could be complication-free.
More than $4.3 billion could be saved.
The average patient stay would decrease by nearly half a day.
Kudos to Ocala Health's leadership, staff, physicians and volunteers — you have raised the bar once again for quality care.
