Our wonderful hospital
It is common sense that a for-profit company will buy a nonprofit only if there is some economic advantage to doing so. The suitors of Munroe Regional Medical Center are not doing so out of altruistic policies.
The obvious place to cut expenses is in personnel. Patients may not notice at first that the floors are not quite as clean, that it takes longer for a buzzer to be answered, that the staff seems skimpier and more tired.
Sooner or later, however, the cuts become obvious.
We have a wonderful hospital. If we vote this away, we lose not only our local autonomy but also the contributions of many local people, including those volunteers who give both time and money.
Please consider these facts when voting.
