The Munroe Regional Medical Center Board of Directors approved Munroe Regional Medical Center moving forward to enter into a formal affiliation with the Surgery Center of Ocala, located at 3241 Southwest 34th Street in Ocala, Florida. As a result of this affiliation, Munroe Regional will become an owner in the Surgery Center of Ocala. The transaction will take effect sometime in the month of December 2012.
The formal affiliation will consist of three owners: Munroe Regional Medical Center, Symbion Healthcare and OcalaSurg. Symbion will manage the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Center.
"Munroe Regional Medical Center is pleased to enter into this affiliation with the Surgery Center of Ocala," said Steve Purves, President & CEO at Munroe Regional. "This affiliation embodies our continued mission of both preparing for a more integrated healthcare delivery system under today's health reform and working collaboratively with our physicians. With this new partnership, Munroe Regional's expansion of surgical services benefits both our physicians and patients. We believe this to be a win-win for our community, physicians and Munroe Regional."
“As a physician in the community for over 20 years and a partner in the Surgery Center of Ocala for over 15 years it only makes sense that our two community leaders in surgical healthcare combine forces for years to come,” said Dr. David McFaddin, President of the Board at the Surgery Center of Ocala.
“Symbion is proud of its partnerships with leading healthcare delivery systems, like Munroe Regional Medical Center. In this ever changing healthcare marketplace, strategic alliances with hospitals are key to the success of free-standing independent ambulatory surgery centers, said Michael Guarino, administrator at the Surgery Center of Ocala. “Our experience developing and operating surgical facilities gives hospitals like Munroe Regional, the freedom to focus on their core business, while offering patients a high quality, low-cost alternative for outpatient services.”
