Orthopedic Patient Education

Know what to expect.

Research has shown that the best outcomes come from knowing what to expect, before and after surgery.

Munroe's pre-op surgery class is taught by the Program Coordinator, who has an Orthopedic Nurse Certification. This certification indicates specialization in treating patients who have undergone orthopedic surgery or are under orthopedic care and includes a requirement of at least 1,000 hours of providing patient care to orthopedic patients in the last 3 years.

Our Orthopedic Surgery Pre-Operative class covers:

  • Preparing for surgery
  • What to do the night before surgery
  • Arriving for surgery and what to expect upon admission
  • Anesthesia
  • Medical equipment
  • Recovery
  • Coping with pain
  • Going home
  • Physical and occupational therapy
  • Proper body mechanics
