64-Slice Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning

Munroe Regional offers advanced 64-slice CT scanning Philips 40 and 64 slice scanners as well as the ability Large bore for Bariatric Patients scanning. CT Scanning is a test used to look inside your body using cross-sectional images. The CT scanner has a large ring and the x-ray tube rotates around you 360 degrees, taking a picture or "slice". The computer then creates this picture onto a computer screen and digital images are acquired and storied.

General X-Ray

Imaging Services features Digital Radiography and Computed Radiography, Fluoroscopy.  Radiography rooms located in OP Tower 2nd floor Johnson lobby dedicated for our Outpatients, providing quick registration and exam completion.  Radiology also provides the Emergency Department and Children’s Emergency Department with dedicated Radiography equipment to ensure all of our patients are done as quickly as possible.  Our main Radiology Department located on the second floor is utilized for Inpatients, Outpatients as needed and services the Cardiac Vascular Operating Room as well as General Surgery.

Interventional Radiology

Inventional Radiography provides state of the art 3D reconstructive Angiography, advanced fluoroscopy, and CT guidance. Interventional Radiology provides an array of minimally invasive procedures including image guided procedures (e.g., arteriograms, myelograms, emobilizations). Interventional radiology procedures typically have less risk, less pain and less recovery time and are used to treat diseases through the blood vessels or through small incisions to the skin.

The Center for Vascular Health (CVH)

This area offers patients a full spectrum of quality vascular and non-vascular care. Physicians from Center for Vascular Health provide their vascular patients with a full range of care treatment options. Their services cover every step of the process, from initial patient evaluation and scheduling to admission and performance of invasive procedures, and operate at Munroe Regional Medical Center (MRMC).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) / Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)

An MRI uses magnetic waves to evaluate any part of the body. The unit at Munroe Regional Medical Center is a GE Cigna 1.5 Tesla unit-, reduce acoustic noise, apply real-time interactive imaging capabilities and provide fast, high quality, whole body imaging. Not all MRI units are the same, so it is important for patients and referring physicians to understand that magnet strength is a major consideration when choosing a facility for MRI services. In addition to MRI studies, MRA studies can be performed on blood vessels using MRI technology.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine at Munroe Regional utilizes a Philips Axis providing high quality imaging, shortened testing time and increased comfort. Nuclear medicine technology documents the function and structure of virtually every major organ system in the body and the dual-head capability is especially helpful for cardiac and total body bone scans. Some of the nuclear medicine diagnostic studies include:

  • Bone scan
  • Thyroid scanning and uptake
  • Stress test
  • Gallbladder
  • Lung scans

Ultrasound

Imaging Services boasts advanced Siemens Antares as well Phillips IE33 and Siemens Sequoia Echocardiography Systems digital technology. These systems provide significantly improved image quality among other features that allow for a faster, correct diagnosis (and possibly without the need for additional testing). Ultrasound procedures include:

  • General abdominal ultrasound
  • General OB/GYN ultrasound
  • Breast ulrasound
  • Doppler ultrasound
  • Echocardiography
  • Carotid ultrasound - arterial and venous
  • Peripheral vascular ultrasound
  • Renal ultrasound

Interventional Radiology Nursing Unit

The nursing staff in our IRU Department provides comprehensive pre and post procedural care.  These nurses have extensive training to provide the best care to the broad array of procedures performed in the Imaging Services Department.

  • Outpatient venous therapy
  • Pre and Post procedural care of all outpatient Radiology Procedures
