Electrophysiology Lab

Electrophysiology Lab

Designed to Munroe Heart's award winning electrophysiologist's specifications, Munroe Heart's electrophysiology lab focuses solely on the electrical system of the heart and serves patients with complex cardiac rhythm disturbances or complex pacemakers. The EP lab was built with innovative, technologically advanced equipment designed to enhance efficiencies in workflow, ensure greater navigational accuracy, while providing shorter procedure times - and the lab is supported by the latest in quality imaging.

Operating Room Gallery

Cardiothoracic Operating Rooms

Munroe Heart surgeons perform open heart, thoracic and vascular surgery exclusively at Munroe. These nationally recognized surgeons operate in four dedicated cardiothoracic operating rooms located on the second floor of the medical center. One of these state-of-the-art operating room suites features an observation gallery, which allows healthcare professionals to watch the surgery as it is taking place, with views of the entire operating theater, as well as video close-ups of the procedures. This room was the first of its kind on the east coast.

Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

All beds in the 14-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit are enclosed providing patients needed peace and privacy. Adjacent to each patient's room is a station where the nurse can chart information, check patient history and medications, or review a doctor's orders. This station allows the nurse to stay close at hand to monitor the patient and quickly respond to their needs.

da Vinci Surgical System

Munroe's urologists are pioneers in the use of the da Vinci Surgical System, which in Marion County, is only available at Munroe. Powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology our surgeons are able to offer minimally invasive options for prostate conditions, as well as renal and bladder procedures. Today da Vinci Prostatectomy is the #1 choice for treatment of prostate cancer in the United States. The da Vinci system offers numerous potential benefits to patients such as shorter hospital stays, less pain and less risk of infections, a decrease in blood loss, less scarring, and a quicker return to normal activities.

Acevedo

Catheterization Lab

Munroe Heart includes four cutting-edge cardiac catheterization labs that are fully equipped for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Performing the procedures are renowned interventional cardiologists who operate exclusively at Munroe. To emphasize their commitment to patient safety and quality care, Munroe Heart's interventional cardiologists extend an invitation to family members to sit in the view room to watch their loved one's procedure. During this time, a Munroe Heart associate sits with the family and explains the procedure as it is performed.

Interventional Radiology

Munroe's Vascular Interventional Radiology suite was recently upgraded to the FD20 Philips imaging system. This upgrade adds quality and safety to the services already povided as well as allowing for the implementation of "hybrid" imaging procedures. The FD20 system, with its state-of-the-art software applications, allow for 3-D vascular imaging. This technique is used to paint a 3-D picture of vessels that can be manipulated to display even the most elusive lesions or abnormalities. The images are capable of overlay to display real-time fluoroscopic events to aid physicians in treatments and interventions. The FD20 adds the capacity to perform the intra-procedureal CT scans to aid in therapeutic procedures and needle localization. This "hybrid" between fluoroscopy, DSA, and CT allows for nearly limitless possibilities in the improvement of patient care and procedural outcomes for Munroe's imaging services.

Healthy Ocala, Greater Marion County

Making a difference through technology, Healthy Ocala is a not-for-profit organization committed to improving healthcare for our community. The Electronic Health Record (EHR), once fully operational, will reduce the duplication of tests and coordinate patient care, thus improving the health of our community while lowering the cost of care. Through Federal mandates, stimulus programs and healthcare reform bills, Healthy Ocala is a win-win established solution to provide the infrastructure, physician exxpertise and community education necessary to successfully adopt EHRs in a secure and cost efficient manner. Munroe's Prestige 55 program is a proud partner of Healthy Ocala.

Portal

Physician Portal

The portal's web-based technology allows physicians to review critical patient data, medical transcriptions, check lab results, radiology results, and other information from anywhere within the hospital or remote from the hospital.

Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS)

This new vision in imaging services provides digital images of X-rays, allows physicians to access X-rays instantly without having to locate the film or request a film transfer.

Horizon Clinicals

A software system that allows hospital clinicians access to patient records from any place at any time within the hospital.

Computers on Wheels (COWS)

These computers on wheels can be moved from room to room, area to area providing up-to-the-minute reporting on patient conditions throughout the hospital.

Chemistry Lab Robot

Chemistry Lab Robot

In a hospital setting, quick and accurate blood analysis is critical for effective patient diagnosis and treatment. With the chemistry lab robot, Munroe's staff can analyze and screen blood work quickly, minimize biohazard exposure and decrease the time in which test results are returned to our physicians. Patients benefit because they begin their treatment faster as a result of the rapid turnaround time of lab work. The lab processes approximately 1,000 patients a day and the robot can process 100 samples an hour.

NEDD - The Pharmacy Robot

The Pharmacy Robot "NEDD"

This room-sized machine has the ability to stock up to 300 medications, processing them at lightening speed. The pharmacy robot fills approximately 1800 prescriptions a day, doing so through bar codes located on each patient's medication tray, on stocked medications within the robot and on the patient's wristband. "NEDD" (No Error Drug Dispenser), allows pharmacists to spend more time with physicians writing prescriptions and less time filling them. This ensures patients receive the most accurate prescription possible and lowers the risk of drug interactions and drug errors.
