Rapid Response Team
Munroe Regional Medical Center’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) is available 24 hours a day, responding to calls for help from throughout the hospital. Any MRMC associate, patient, family member, or visitor may initiate a call to the team anytime there is suspected deterioration in a patient’s condition.
The call results in immediate critical-care expertise at the patient’s bedside as the ICU Supervisor will respond to assess the patient. The ICU Intensivist and the Respiratory Therapist are involved in the response if necessary. Studies continue to demonstrate the RRT’s effectiveness, as early intervention can improve patient outcomes.
During FY 2011, Munroe’s Rapid Response Team answered 483 calls for assistance. The goal of a Rapid Response Team is to intervene early, before a patient deteriorates to the point of cardiopulmonary arrest.
