Stroke Center
Munroe Regional is a Primary Stroke Center, accredited by The Joint Commission and the first hospital in North Central Florida to receive this accreditation.
This Joint Commission accreditation means that Munroe's stroke care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients. Primary Stroke Center certification recognizes Munroe's commitment to providing outstanding care to our patients and our community.
The Joint Commission's Primary Stroke Center certification is based on the recommendations for primary stroke centers published by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association's statements/guidelines for stroke care. The Joint Commission launched the program - the nation's first - in 2003.
Munroe also participated in the American Stroke Association's "Get with the Guidelines - Stroke (GWTG-Stroke)" program. Participation in GWTG-Stroke helps ensure continuous quality improvement of acute stroke treatment and ischemic stroke prevention.
