Some useful information for before you arrive at Munroe
Pre-Admission
If Pre-Admit Testing information is required, an appointment is made for the patient by their surgeon 2-14 days prior to surgery. Otherwise, you may be contacted by a Patient Admitting representative.
Maps, Directions and Parking
You may find it helpful to review our Maps, Directions and Parking section before visiting Munroe. A parking garage for pre-registered patients, and those patients with physician orders, adjoins the hospital. Handicapped parking is readily available.
What to Bring if You Are Staying Overnight
We suggest you bring only those items you will need during your hospitalization. These might include a robe, reading material, one or two checks, and a small amount of cash ($10). Small electrical appliances such as shavers and hair dryers are acceptable. Bring essential medical devices, such as hearing aids and dentures. Bring toiletries including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, mouthwash, soap, unscented lotion, lip balm, comb, brush, disposable razor, shaving cream, Efferdent tablets and socks.
Important Documents to Bring
Please bring the following documents or information, as it applies to you:
- Insurance.
- Social Security numbers for patient and spouse, and, if it's a pediatric admission, for parent and patient.
- Medicare patients: Retirement dates for patient and spouse.
- Pediatric admission: Birth dates of parents.
- Completed Advance Directive (Living Will) English Spanish
- List of all your current prescription and over-the-counter medications and dosages.
What to Leave at Home
Please leave your valuables such as purse, wallet, money, credit cards, jewelry, large sums of cash, cell phones, laptop computers, pagers or video equipment. Also, please leave scented toiletries and cigarettes at home. Electronic appliances, except shavers and hair dryers, are not permitted in patient rooms for safety reasons.
Medications taken at home should not be brought to the hospital unless you have been directed to do so by your physician.
If You Are Having a Baby
Bring your health plan card, bathrobe, non-skid slippers, non-skid socks, receiving blanket, hair clips/rubber bands, magazines or reading material, camera, film, batteries, change of clothes, two nursing bras (if you plan to breastfeed), baby book for footprints, baby car seat, baby outfit for trip home, snacks for labor coach, lip moisturizer.
